My kindergartners and I have been discussing shapes and their attributes this week. Today we sponge painted shapes to make a picture. The kids loved this activity. They were telling each other what shape they were using while making their different pictures. They would discuss topics such as how many side a shape has, how many corners, what color paint they were using, and what shapes made their picture. (A square and a triangle make a house). The students really benefited from this activity and they did an excellent job. Here are some examples of their work.

ReplyDeleteIt is great that kids can develop their understanding of geometric shapes, develop tactile skills and develop creativity skills, all the while they are having fun and making a mess! lol
ReplyDeleteThey are regular little Picasso's!
Very creative! I bet those kids loved it, too. :)
ReplyDeleteI remember doing something similar when I was in elementary school and I always loved it! Being hands on is one of my favorite learning tools and I'm glad to see it put to good use!
